What is a health insurance co insurance?

Health insurance shopping made easy!
| Co Insurance is a cost or "risk" you agree to share with the
health insurance company before scheduled benefits are paid at 100%.
Most health insurance policies on the market today have co insurance
but it's how the co insurance is set up that determines your share of
the costs. For example, a typical co insurance percentage is 80/20 to
$5,000. So, this means that typically you will have to pay your
deductible plus 20% of $5,000 which is $1,000 before the insurance
company will pay benefits at 100%. With some health insurance
companies you can actually choose to have a higher co insurance to
save money on monthly health insurance premiums. |
